Here is a piece of art of my new ball python, a spider morph. I still need to name the snake, but it'll come in time.
I used a reference photo of my other snake and worked from that. I used copic markers and color pencils in th epiece, as well as some minor ink.
I am thinking of maybe darkening up some of th elines, but I am not sure, so I figured I'd post it here first and get some crits. The original is better, scanner does not keep true to the markered piece.

** edit- OMG, I do not know what year it is! yes, it is 2007, not 2006, I am only a year behind! will fix soon, but hey, if I update the pic, i'll make sure to add in the correct year then..LOL**
Love how the pattern of the snake almost blends into the background, creating an interesting positive/negative space juxtaposition. It would be worth trying a graphic black and white version of this composition where you really play that positive negative aspect off but the piece is nice the way it is as well. Only thing I might do is add just a few more highlights to the snake itself.

Very nice picture ( and very nice snake ^^). I also wanted a ball python first, but I heard that they sometimes are difficult to feed, so I took a boa constrictor from Honduras.
Well, bps being difficult to feed is kind of a myth- its mor elike if they are stressed or dont feel secure, they wont eat. Now, some bps can be pickier eaters, but most of mine eat like crazy.
BUT hey, boas are great snakes too!! If you ever get interested in bps, just make sure to have a nice secure cage set up- they like snug hides and the cages not to be overly huge. And buy the snake from a reputable breeder or store- and make sure its a good eater to begin with.
How many snakes do you have? ^^ I'm happy that I've found another person who likes them. Most of the pupils in my class call me a freak, because I like snakes, spiders and so on. I don't really understand why some people start to panic if they see one of these animals ( even if it is a little corn snake or something like this).
Brilliant work! Question, did you not draw in the scales purposely?
